Painting the old Case Tractor

Last weekend we took some time at our State Park in the Wild life refuge. The Longhorns have babies and the old bison are beautiful. They have not started shedding yet and look very cool with their thick winter coats.

Well while it rains I will tell you about my last painting. I wanted to make a landscape so I took the time to combine elements that I had taken photographs of. Using Photoshop I combined a barn, Case tractor and landscape. I skewed the barn to make it look like it was the right perspective.

Then I took the drawing and used a black and white printout to trace into my sketchbook. I then looked for highlight and low lights to sketch my design. I then took that sketch to graphite transfer onto my aquabord.

After I transfer it I ask for my husband to look at it. A new set of eyes help to make sure I get the perspective right. When he is done or made me mad. I take it back and start to relook at it myself. From there is just the painting process.

When I got done it looked like this. On the next painting I will show you how to get value and color.
